VISA Information
Puerto Rico is a territory of the United States of America (USA) and Puerto Ricans have USA citizenship since 1917. No visas are necessary for USA citizens and they can travel in and out of the island without going through immigration or customs.
Citizens of other countries visiting Puerto Rico have the same requirements as for entering the USA. More information can be obtained from the US Department of State. Ibersensor 2012 participants from countries that require a visa to enter the USA are encouraged to apply for temporary visas as soon as possible.
Letter of Invitation
An official invitation letter will be sent to Ibersensor 2012 participants who need the document for visa applications purposes.
San Juan Airport Agriculture Inspection
Travelers flying from airports in Puerto Rico to the USA will be subjected to an additional inspection by the US Department of Agriculture to make sure prohibited fruits and plants are not carried to the mainland. More information is available from the US Department of Agriculture.
